Develop RMS further

Specific planned new features For RMS Express are:
· A ‘catalog’ for requesting bulletins and WEB data.
· User options and position/weather report forms.
· A GPS interface for automating the grid square setting and position reporting.
· Automatic forwarding on packet and telnet (but never on HF).
· Pactor support for the Kantronics KAM XL.
· A Spell checker.

Add auto-resume to downloading when a forwarding link is broken, then reconnected.

No resume when broken HF links between CMS via RMS to RMS Express?

Many times (maybe most? or ALL the times?) a broken link transfer seems to start from scratch at next connect. This also when waiting several minutes before the next try so the CMSs should be able to syncronize.

If intention is that the B2F compressed link should catch up from where it had arrived when broke, like the old FBB compressione then there seems to be a bug somewhere.

At the time beeing this again from me is a "feeling" based upon "unsystematic" observations "massaging" the LA3F-5 and LA3F.

Both when doing the Winmor 114kb file on 80m in december several times deliberately "destroing" link it started from scratch every time.

Same observation is done by my Cosysop testing a lot of P1 transfers some days ago in and out of RMS Pactor on 40m using a about 25 kb picture file. It never succeeded. Always stopped a couple of kb before finnished. PK232 on a P1,2,3 capable frequency. Shorter files did succeed.

When getting time for it we will return with Log files from all the sites doing new more systematic obesrvations.

Testing has not been done with Airmail and Paclink.

My hunch is that if there is a bug here, it may be a mission critical one in case of emergency.

Reducing unnecessary footprint is important.

P2P Forwarding

Lori 13 years ago 0
Add the ability to forward P2P Packet messages into
the Winmor WL2K system ie use 3rd Party as a relay. Have messages automatically posted to Outbox of
Winmor WL2K.

ex
P2P
To: VE3ONN
Forward To: emoares@gmail.com

so when the P2P message delivered to VE3ONN the
message is placed into Winmor WL2K outbox for
delivery

Add a Template folder to RMS Express or, better, interface to a standard mail client

IW2DHW 13 years ago updated by Winlink Moderator 13 years ago 5
Some mail are repetitive. A template folder in RMS Express can act as in normal mail client (Thunderbird, Evolution, Outlook).

Also an interface from normal mail client and RMS Express will do this.

Forms for setting user options, position and weather reports are complete. A full-featured message template feature is also included in 1.1.1.4.

Thank you WDT for what IS ACHIEVED so far.

I kinda feel like a "shit bag" (expression used by a norwegian minister abt 20 years ago) always stating what I think is wrong with the SW.

I know that programmers usually want Bug reports, but all these Bug reports may often "drown" the reality that the whole system and programs basically do a very nice job.

So therefor this _Thank You_...
(before new "ugly" reports arrive from me, hi)

It would be a dream to have RMS Express on Android...

Evang. Achillopoulos 12 years ago 0
To have RMS express on Android like the PSKmail, it will be a dream for the portable or emergency situations... especially that now we have waterproof smartphones that have dual processors and are faster than some PC's...

Many thanks for the good work, 73's SV1OCH

User software (client programs) should be able to determine (limit) bandwidth usage when in Pactor or WINMOR modes on HF.

W3QA 13 years ago updated by Winlink Moderator 12 years ago 7
Currently, WL2K client programs switch Pactor or WINMOR to wide- bandwidth modes based upon the connected Server station's settings. This is illegal in some countries where bandwidths are limited by law. The situation arises when a client station in a country with such laws contacts a server in a country where wide bandwidth modes are allowed. The client is automatically switched into an illegal mode, and the operator has no ability to control it other than to pull the plug.

RMS Express decoding UTF-8 Char.set?

LA7UM 13 years ago updated 11 years ago 4
Down the wish list it may slowly become more of a request for RMS Express to be able to switch in decoding UTF-8 Character set, which more and more seems to be recommended as standard in EU.

To day we do a mixture.
