I agree with Finn. I know from experience quite exactly which stations are in range and which frequencies I want to use, most of the calculation that RMS Express does, is not of interest to me.

This is why I would like to have the choice a) which station should be calculated and b) when it is calculated. If the calculation can be done in background, it would be ok. What I don't like is when I open the channel list that I have to wait for a long time until the calculation of 95% percent of stations which are of no relevance to me is finished.

in RMS Express opening the channel list updates the propagation for all stations and this lasts a very long time. It would be nice to have an option to choose stations which are calculated to save time.

Very good. thank you! this will save a lot of on-air time.

hi Finn,

you are right, problem already solved.

Thank you for information...

you could create a mailto link on your website where the subject prefix is included.

Most email programs understand the subject command.

Example: mailto:oe9fwv@winlink.org?Subject=//WL2K R/ Re: Homepage Feedback

Recently the prefix //WL2K R/ is stripped from the subject line when a mail is sent to the CMS.

The receiver of the mail must then reply with the original email address or put the prefix into the subject line.

Is there a possibility to add a domain name to the whitelist without Internet access? This would be most welcome for radio only users. I am thinking of a command message to the system.

If this is already possiblbe please let me know.

thank you,

I suggest to add the possibility for user defined commands in a startup and shutdown file for RMS Express.

Reason: RMS Express executes a complete reset of the modem at each startup. This has some unwanted consequences for me. In the Ptc-2 all stored frequency channels are deleted. The modem log is deleted. The mailbox with all stored messages is deleted. The LED brightness setting is set to default.

With a startup and shutdown file I could restore some of my user settings.

The best solution for me would be to make the complete restart of the modem user definable, maybe hidden, if you fear too much need for support.

For the new P4 Dragon modem the startup file could help to save lifetime of the modem display. OLED's have a known short lifetime. The firmware allows to dim them and to switch the display off completely if not in use. But these parameters are not default values and overwritten with a complete restart.

I see much progress in the development of the program - thank you for you work!

now my wish:

What I would like to see is a simple online statistics to estimate the throughput.

(download / upload speed in kB/min for example)

I know, I can go into the logfiles and calculate, but for this work we have computers :-)

The progress bar is very nice and I think it already does some calculation in the background, maybe you can show the numbers somewhere in the status line or on the RX screen.

tnx,

@Finn: the problem first was evident in RMS Pactor, where it is solved now. I think the programmers will be able to correct this in RMS Express. I expect it to be repaired with the next update of the program. The Winlink moderator probably was not aware of the bug when he set the issue into "completed".
